ADVANCE has developed proprietary Pathways to help pharmacy professionals work towards purposeful development in predefined focus areas. Each includes required activities within the core plan areas of patient care, management, leadership, community service, and scholarly activity. These activities and experiences are customized specifically for each individual user.
Every Pathway begins with a detailed assessment of the user’s knowledge and experience in the focus area, and responses determine which activities are recommended for that specific user. This benefits the individual, and anyone who may be paying for the training costs or associated time, because the individual is only focused on completing activities that add value and enrich their professional development. Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all training and redundant learning.
ADVANCE Pathways can be created or supported by many different groups, and they are developed using an unbiased, peer-review process involving experts in each content area. Expert collaborators define the functions, goals, and objectives that pharmacy professionals need to meet baseline and escalating requirements related to a specific focus area. The process is linked to meaningful assessments and l industry-leading activities and experiences that move the pharmacy professional closer to their goals.
The national Pathways currently offered in ADVANCE include:
- APhA Immunization Pathway
- APhA Medication Management Pathway
- APhA Community Pharmacy Management
- APhA Opioid Safety Pathway
- APhA Diabetes Pathway
